Nikkō Shiba (Older Brother)
- A pure heart, hidden behind a stern facade. - Kenji-Taichō
Character Outline Edit
Yūyami is a stern-faced man who rarely changes his facial features from the aforementioned sternness. Like his brothers, he has white-colored hair, only his hangs to his shoulders and swept back so his bangs are small and barely noticeable. His eyes are black and quite intense, almost like he was looking through you; a feeling his stern expression doesn't lessen a hair. He has a neatly trimmed beard, mustache and goatee that is colored the same white color as his hair. When he appears before Kenji and Meian, he is known to wear the average Shihakushō (死覇装, Garment of Dead Souls) with a purple color scheme that matches his older brothers. When a younger man, Yūyami had a more relaxed exterior, with long, flowing brown-colored hair that reached down past his hips, with a similar Shihakushō colored a light sea blue instead of purple.
Yūyami was usually described as a stern man based on his physical appearance and expression, though nothing could be farther from the truth. Kenji describes him as a hard man, but incredibly fair with Meian stating him to be the personification of everything the Shiba Family has stood for since its founding. He values his position as a noble, but doesn't put on airs and refers to almost everyone he meets with a kind and familiar tone; to a lesser degree making him much like Kenji himself as he treats everyone equally also. In fact, out of the three founding brothers, Yūyami is the one that Kenji mostly resembles, if not in physical appearance then in personality traits and personal beliefs. He also had a soft spot for children, and would only drop his stern facade when faced with simple childhood innocence. However, like all the Captains of his era, Yūyami was most readily remembered as a cold blooded killer.

Powers & Abilities Edit
Immense Spiritual Energy: As one of the Captains' reputed as the strongest in the history of the Gotei 13, Yūyami possessed monstrous levels of spiritual power.
Immense Strength: Yūyami's power lay in the strength of his blows, which were enough to split stone and shatter Kidō - a feat usually considered impossible to perform. He gained this level of strength through his incredible mastery of a simple Kidō spell - that of Hadō #1: Shō.
Kidō Expertise: Yūyami was never considered a skilled practitioner of the Kidō arts, as he was only bothered to learn spells up to number twenty; though those he did learn where mastered to their utmost, making even a spell as weak as Shō incredibly useful to his cause.
Hakuda Master: While not fully shown, it was mentioned by Nasu that Yūyami was a master Hakuda specialist. His blows were known to hold a good degree of strength, as he was fit to block a strike from the embodied Hakyoku and throw him a considerable distance, both feats with a single hand.
Bushidō (武士道, Way of the Warrior) is the name of Yūyami's zanpakutō. It takes the appearance of an average nodachi with red-colored hilt wrapping and a long, thin blade colored golden. He carries it from a sheath threaded through his ōbi sash in the traditional manner. In his younger days he instead kept it sealed in the form of a shorter kodachi, though the color scheme remained through the years.
- Shikai: Bushidō was released with the command Come Forth. Aside from a thin outline of black energy forming around his person, Yūyami's appearance remains unchanged.
- Shikai Special Ability: Bushidō granted Yūyami the ability to utilize the black aura as a weapon under his complete control, where he normally summoned it in the form of a limb to strike his opponent.
- Bankai: Not Revealed.
