"Look, I’m going to get this out in the open right now, so kindly calm your tits and listen. Okay? We on the same damned page, here? Or do I need to spell it out for you in crayon? Right, Hotaru stole Fushichō? That sucks, for both of us. We look alike because, you guessed it, we’re brothers! Big shocker. We’re twins! And if Vlad wasn’t being such a secretive old bastard, you’d have known that already. Furthermore, we also hail from an alternate world, ‘cause there’s a big multiverse out there, and if you call me a fucking alien, like that chisel-toothed relic back in Naruki City, I’ll boot you in the ass!"
—Akira, to Anika Shihōin, after losing his temper.[src]

Template:Shinigami Infobox (Ninth Division) Akira Hiroshi (晃洋, Hiroshi Hotaru), known strictly as Akira Shiba, is a time displaced world-travelling Visored, who initially studied under Ashido Kanō. He is the son of Kenji and Ino Hiroshi, twin to Hotaru, and the brother to Shinrei, Arisa, Kentaro and Kay. During the throes of The Collapse, Akira and Hotaru were saved by Meian Shiba alongside Naoko Izuru and Yori Hisagi, with unforeseen effects. The twins were not only transported to an alternate world, but thrown backwards in time as well, arriving roughly a month following the events of the Blood War in July 2003.

Whilst Hotaru sought the means to return Akira and he home at any cost, Akira was content to live in a new world seemingly free of war and conflict, having known nothing else since his earliest years. His sense of right and wrong won out over his devotion to Hotaru and the twins had a falling out, very nearly costing Akira his life. Fleeing to Hueco Mundo, where he knew Ashido resided, Akira begged the elder Shinigami to take him under his wing. After some initial doubt and hesitation, Ashido accepted. Resolving to stop Hotaru even if it resulted in one of their deaths, Akira devoted himself to training, eventually coming into the confidence of the Privaron Espada Gundinger Drelairn, who claimed a large area of the Forest of Menos as his territory.

In the intervening years, and having seen first-hand the signs in the Forest of Menos over a sixteen-year period, Akira created his own Ryū Order based on his father's Ryū Guard, with the specific goals of stopping Hotaru from acquiring the Ōin and combating the threat of an emerging Averian. In this vein he adopted his father's title as the Morning Prince (朝王子, Asaōji) as a show of his resolve.

Appearance[]

As identical twins, Akira and Hotaru share the same basic appearance, especially in their youth.[1] It wasn't until they grew that the two started to develop noticeable differences, though the two remained similar enough that hair length was usually the easiest way to tell them apart.[2]. Anika was initially surprised by just how alike they were, for she attacked Akira thinking that he was Hotaru.[3] Akira, however, is noted to be less rough than Hotaru, for he sports neatly trimmed hair and no stubble. Additionally, Akira is noted to look more like Ino, with Hotaru more closely resembling Kenji.[4] Following Akira's second meeting with Vlad, he sports two scars on his left jugular, inflicted by Vlad when the latter bit him in order to ascertain whether Akira was being truthful with him or not.[5] Akira wears the standard Shinigami attire and, like almost every member of the Ninth Division past and present, his kosode is sleeveless, and devoid of any further modification.[6] Shortly after arriving in the Forest, Ashido gifted Akira a fur cloak similar to his own, which Akira has worn draped over his shoulders ever since.[7] He started hanging Hollow masks on it in the same manner as Ashido, which Akira had taken as trophies of the hunt.[8]

Personality[]

According to Ino, the Hiroshi mindset consists of bravery, a pinch of stupidity, and sprinkled with a hearty topping of recklessness.[8] Most of Ino's children exhibited these traits to some degree, sans Akira. He alone was the black sheep amongst all the children Kenji fathered. For none of these things described Akira, because Hotaru was all of these things, and Kenji described the twins as being as different as night and day.[1] By his own admission, Akira strongly inherited his mother's traits, more so than any of his other siblings.[2][9] He is a peacekeeper, almost to the point of pacifism, and only lifts his blade to fight when given no other choice.[10] Even as a child, Akira rarely went against his twin or voiced his objections, but there were exceptions. Whenever Hotaru's jibes went too far, especially in regard to their younger sister Kay, Akira asserted himself to protect her.[11] That said, in battle, Akira mimicked his father and uncles strongly, to the point his own displayed abilities were noted to closely resemble theirs.[12]

Despite growing up in a time of war, Akira retained an innocent and naive outlook, which contributed to his dislike of battle. During his initial meeting with Myst Kagekyo, Akira stated that he would "rather relax, either with a fishing rod or a guitar or a glass of wine close to hand", because none of them required him to fight.[8] He enjoyed listening to the stories of his father and Kei Yume, even if he described them in later life as "drunken ramblings", and gained an appreciation of history as a result,[13] an interest which only his half-sister Arisa shared.[14][15] His naïveté, sociable attitude, willingness to take others at face value, dislike of combat, and strong sense of right and wrong, contributed later to his appeal. Ashido, Gundinger, and Asuka all credited Akira as a force of change in their own lives, and subsequently became highly loyal to him.[16] In turn, he became fiercely loyal to them, and admitted to being protective of "the cantankerous old bastard", in regard to Gundinger.[17] Even Vlad was intrigued by Akira's attitude, describing it rare for one so young to value gaining knowledge over gaining power.[5] This was something even Anika came to respect, even though her initial view of Akira was anything but positive.[3]

Akira hit the wall shortly after The Collapse, which saw his uncle, Meian Shiba, sacrifice his life to save Hotaru and he from certain death.[2] He followed Hotaru, not knowing what else to do, and was initially complicit in some of his darker moments. Rather than continue, however, his sense of right won out, and Akira broke away, but not before being run through by his own twin. Hotaru's actions shattered Akira's faith in him, and he resolved himself to self-exile out of fear of a potentially lethal encounter.[18] He sought out Ashido Kanō and a hard life of battle in the Forest of Menos as a means of toughening himself up, even revealing to the older Shinigami that he was a Visored.[19] He struggled at first with his living conditions within the Forest, showing that he had been spoiled a little growing up, as well as having to cope with Ashido's initial mistrust, but eventually he adjusted and came into his own.[20][21][7] The sixteen years spent training with Ashido in the Forest did much to strengthen Akira, both physically and mentally, the experience giving him time to truly find himself, with him describing himself as "reborn" afterwards.[22] Akira lost some of his childishness and naivety, retained his sense of mercy in victory,[17] but was still a child at heart who saw the world differently from the likes of Kenji and Kusaka, even as he attempted to be more charismatic like the former and more ruthless like the latter. Additionally, Akira has developed something of a temper. When pushed, he speaks his mind regardless of the consequences, no matter who he happens to be insulting. Thus far, he has insulted Vlad,[8] not once but twice,[5] whilst also insulting Anika.[3]

After leaving the Forest, Akira resolved to stop Hotaru personally, acknowledging that one of them would likely die.[7] He told Myst that the only one who would kill Hotaru would be Akira himself.[8]

Akira has a notable fear of Reikon Kyuuban, specifically Vlad, which has been cultivated through tales which were told to him by Kusaka.[8] His fear leaves him nervous, to the point he has ended up insulting the Elder, and drawing his ire. Thus far, he has called him an old fool, accused him of being a spoilsport, and inferred that he was a pervert.[5] He also told Anika that Vlad was a secretive old bastard and a chisel-toothed relic, though this was notably not when Vlad was present.[3]

His naïveté extended to matters of the heart, though he eventually realized his feelings for Asuka, and started acting on them.[23] One of the first things he asked of Myst and Vlad when they separated the pair was whether Asuka was safe or not.[8] Asuka was loyal to Akira initially because he spared her life and then stopped Gundinger finishing her off, knowing Hotaru would have killed her without hesitation, and this eventually developed into something more, as pointed out by Ashido when Akira proved oblivious to her attraction.[24] He showed equal parts anger and embarrassment when Vlad sieved through his memories, ascertaining that he was indeed from another world, because Akira mistakenly believed Vlad had seen he and Asuka being intimate.[5]

Akira has a number of hobbies which he cultivated growing up, rather than honing his combat skills as Hotaru had.[11] He enjoys music, likes woodwork, and is a history buff. He successfully crafted a crude guitar during his time in the Forest, but admitted that it sounded "Godawful".[25] His love of music was cultivated by Kenji's own love of music, specifically Northern Ireland bands.[17] He and Ashido also created "Hollow Ricochet": a game involving Ashido redirecting Akira's Cero to hit marked targets to earn points which, at heart, shows Akira's playful and childish side to still very much be a part of his life.[26] During his meeting with Myst Kagekyo and Vlad, he demonstrated yet another trait he shared with his father, that being a taste for alcohol.[8] In contrast to his father, however, who prefers spirits, Akira instead prefers wine, specifically red wine.[5]

Literary works[]

  • Reaper Abroad: Akira's Journal -- a series of disjointed journal entries written by Akira over a sixteen-year period during his stay in the Forest of Menos. The journal documents his new routine, advancement in skills, interactions with Ashido and Gundinger, and his resolve to stop Hotaru.[27] Akira left his journal behind when he left the Forest, and it was subsequently taken up by Ashido, who began writing his own entries.[16]

History[]

Hotaru and Akira were born mere minutes apart during a lull in the First Spiritual War, with Hotaru as the elder twin. He would eventually become the brother to a sister who was named after Kei Yume.[1] Growing up, he often sought the company of Kenji, Kei, and Kusaka, all of whom shared tales of their various adventures with him. Kusaka, specifically, fostered a fear of the Reikon Kyuuban in him with tales of the damage that Vlad inflicted on him.[8] Additionally, he would often listen to Kenji and Kei during their talks, which Akira later identified as "drunken ramblings".[5]

Whilst looking back on his childhood, he noted that downpours of rain, hurricane winds, the flash of lightning, and the rumbling of thunder were all things that calmed him down because they all occurred whenever his father strongly exerted his reiatsu, meaning he was nearby.[11] As was tradition, Akira, as a member of the Shiba family, was taught Raikōhō,[28] with Kenji overseeing this particular rite of passage.[25]

[28]

As the twins grew, they invariably went down different paths, with the twins becoming polar opposites in almost every respect. Whilst Hotaru respected Van Satonaka and came to identify strongly with their uncle Meian, Akira became close with Ashido Kanō. Akira noted that it was Ashido who taught him how to fight.[18]

During the early crusades of Oda Kōhai, who was still galvanizing his power in Heisekai, roughly one-hundred Souls of varying power and pedigree were targeted to be experiments in Oda's personal Hollowfication experiments, the goal being the recreation and advancement of Sōsuke Aizen's racial research. Akira was targeted specifically and came under attack by Ichihara Kōhai, but Hotaru came to his brother's defence. Although the twins were defeated, Ichihara was left with a magnificent black eye courtesy of Hotaru, and the twins were subsequently captured. By the time Kenji, Ino, and Van Satonaka tracked them to Hueco Mundo, Oda had concluded his experiments, with most of his test subjects dying off. Only the intervention of Ino allowed the boys to survive, whilst the lab, and any of Oda's scientists, were killed by Kenji and Van. In Hotaru's own words, Kenji and Van removed the lab completely from the map and turned the entire area on which it previously stood into a glass floor.[29]

Equipment[]

  • Guitar: Akira crafted his own guitar from Hollow bones sometime before June 2012, during his stay in the Forest of Menos. By his own admission, the tuning was off, because he noted that it sounded "godawful".[25]

Powers and Abilities[]

High Spiritual Energy: Akira, prior to his exile, was not as strong as his twin.[4] He readily acknowledged this prior to initially confronting him, though he did possess far greater control of his spiritual power in comparison to Hotaru.[11] According to Kenji, this was due to the twins' individual focus and differing attitudes to battle and training: Akira's early training saw him chose to diligently study the spiritual aspects of Kidō, rather than the more physical doctrine favoured by Hotaru.[1][19] To improve, Akira resolved to exile himself in a harsh environment to close the gap between himself and his twin.[18] He noted himself that, in 2005, he was not as strong as Gundinger was,[10] though he was more than capable of defeating former Soldat in the same year with ease.[13] This changed by 2018 and Akira was capable of overpowering the former Espada.[9]

Prodigy: Like his father and siblings, Akira appears to possess a knack for retaining information and advancing his skills, though his general dislike of combat has hampered his early acquisition of battlefield experience, especially when compared to Hotaru.[11] After only a few months within the Forest, he noted a significant increase in all his basic abilities.[30] By the time he was ready to leave the Forest, he was capable of defeating former Espada member Gundinger without releasing his Zanpakutō or utilizing his advanced Wan'nesu techniques.[9]

Hohō Expertise: Even as a child, Kenji noted that Hotaru and Akira zipped around the house like the wind.[1] Akira possesses advanced Shunpo skill, being capable of outmanoeuvring numerous Hollows with little effort, even whilst injured.[18] He was not quite at the level of Ashido shortly after arriving in the Forest.[7] Akira's time in the Forest did much to enhance his basic abilities across-the-board, to the point he saw significant progress even after only a few months.[30]

Enhanced Speed & Reflexes: Akira has shown himself to be marginally faster than Hotaru in terms of reaction-time, for he managed to summon his Hollow mask and retreat through a summoned portal during the split-second it took for Hotaru to stab him.[11] Even after only a few months in the Forest, Akira felt himself noticeably faster.[30]

Enhanced Strength: Akira possesses enough physical strength to cut down the rock-like trees within the Forest of Menos.[7] Even after only a few months in the Forest, Akira felt himself noticeably stronger.[30]

Enhanced Durability: Despite his lithe build, Akira is remarkably durable. Even after only a few months in the Forest, Akira felt himself noticeably stronger.[30] He has been run through by his twin,[11] attacked and subsequently fed on by Vlad,[5] and slammed into walls by Anika with enough force that normal Shinigami would have had their backs broken.[3] Additionally, he survived sixteen years of near-unceasing combat in the depths of the Forest of Menos.[27]

Kidō Expertise: True to Kenji's statements that the twins are as different as night and day in their core aspects,[1] Akira diligently studied Kidō at the expense of his other skills; particularly the style invented by his father and Van Satonaka.[19] Due to its origins being rooted in another Shard, and thus being unfamiliar to everyone not of that particvular Shard, Akira has a wholly unknown ace-in-the-hole to use against his enemies. These spells include Hadō, Bakudō and Kaidō, and were created with the purpose of harming entities benefiting from divine protection, like the Averian of Akira's own Shard.[31] Outside Nigendō, Akira has full access to two distinct schools of Kidō -- the school of Kidō taught in his native Shard, which he learned from his parents, and the school taught in the Shard he would come to call home, which he learned from Kazuya Kuchiki and, later, Ashido. He further noted that Ashido taught him "various tricks".[24] Akira's time in the Forest did much to enhance his basic abilities across-the-board, to the point he saw significant progress even after only a few months.[30]

  • Shiba clan technique mastery: Hailing from a Shard where the Shiba clan fell from its noble status without losing a large number of its extended membership, Akira became well-versed in a number of ancestral techniques taught within the clan. He is well-versed in the use of Raikōhō, a spell long associated with the Shiba clan,[28] using it as a favoured offensive spell.[25] Additionally, he is masterful in the use of Seppa, allowing him to rapidly undo the unity of reishi and scatter the particles in all directions.[12] This has the visual effect of reducing the effected object to sand.[32] Furthermore, he inherited the traditional fireworks speciality of the Shiba clan from his father and uncles.
  • Kaidō Expertise: Whilst skilled in the fields of Hadō and Bakudō, Akira's real skill lies in the healing arts. He can perform both short-term and long-term care without proper facilities or equipment,[19] and can diagnose injuries in a very short period of time even when under attack.[18] His skill extends to Arrancar physiology, for he successfully treated Gundinger after he encountered Hotaru's followers in the World of the Living.[17]

Zanjutsu Expertise: Akira was capable of swiftly dispatching numerous attacking Hollow despite existing injuries.[18] Despite his talents, he held no faith in his ability to best Hotaru during their initial encounter, and didn't even bother drawing his Zanpakutō for an attempt.[11] Akira's true skill with a blade laid not in traditional Zanjutsu but rather the Wan'nesu of the Yuengiri, which he would practice by lapsing into a near trance-like state and attacking and responding seemingly through sheer instinct.[19] Akira's time in the Forest under Ashido's watch did much to enhance his basic abilities across-the-board, to the point he saw significant progress even after only a few months.[30] Towards the end of his stay in the Forest, he was capable of defeating former Espada member Gundinger.[9] He noted that Ashido taught him "various tricks".[24]

Hakuda Expertise: Akira has some skill in hand-to-hand combat. He was capable of slapping Hotaru's Zanpakutō aside without injuring himself.[11] Akira's time in the Forest did much to enhance his basic abilities, to the point he saw significant progress across-the-board even after only a few months.[30]

Zanpakutō[]

Taiyōshin (太陽神, Sun God). Hotaru's Zanpakutō takes the form of a standard katana.[18] Uniquely, when drawn from its sheath, Taiyōshin creates sparks.

  • Shikai: Akira's release command is currently unknown. When released, however, his Zanpakutō does not change shape, with the only noticeable difference being an increase in the base temperature surrounding Akira. Akira himself is not subject to Taiyōshin's heightened temperature.[17]
Shikai Special Ability: The abilities of Akira's Taiyōshin deal with the manipulation of fire and light for various forms of attack, defence, and supplementary use.[17] As such, Akira noted that Fushichō "neutered his Zanpakutō", for the latter Kyūtai holds dominion over flame and heat in all its forms.[8] Familially, Akira's Zanpakutō has drawn comparison to his close family members, both in his own Shard and others, specifically with his uncle Rosuto's Taiyōsōbi, itself a powerful offensively-focused fire-based Zanpakutō.[12] One of its passive abilities is the emission of light, which effectively voids the effects of illusions, such as those created by Hotaru's Tsukigami. Akira's father noted that Taiyōshin is similar to the Zanpakutō wielded by Rōnin Shiba, who was one of Kenji's many counterparts, as both dealt with the manipulation of light.[33]
  • Taiyōkōsen (太陽光線, Rays of the Sun): one of two manifestations of Taiyōshin. This aspect deals specifically with its emission of fire, one of which is the temperature of its flames.[17] When sealed, it is this ability that causes it to create soarks when drawn.
  • Heat: The use of Taiyōkōsen imposes steadily rising temperatures in a given area which can sap an opponent of their strength, eventually causing unconsciousness. Akira himself is immune to these rising temperatures.[17]
  • Mirages: Akira is capable of creating mirages of varying intensity, a use that is likened to the illusions of Hotaru's Tsukigami. These mirages, coupled with the rising heat, ensured even someone of Asuka's abilities was quickly defeated without much trouble.[17] Unlike Tsukigami, however, Taiyōshin doesn't produce the kind of instantaneous illusion that Hotaru is capable of, nor is it capable of extended projection.
  • Taiyōichida (太陽一打, Sunstroke): one of two manifestations of Taiyōshin. This aspect retains the considerable heat within the blade and amplifies it further, heightening its attacking capability. It is this aspect Kenji likened to his counterparts Amaterasu.[33]
  • Enhanced Zanjutsu: Under the effect of Taiyōichida Akira's Zanpakutō becomes super-heated, directly amplifying the cutting power and damage his standard Zanjutsu sequences cause.
  • Flamethrower: Akira is capable of swiftly switching between the effects of Taiyōichida and Taiyōkōsen, causing the retained heat within his Zanpakutō to be expelled in the form of a high-intensity flamethrower.

Hollowfication[]

Like Hotaru, Akira has undergone Hollowfication, and is counted amongst the Visored.[11] They underwent involuntary procedures at the hands of Oda Kōhai's scientists in an effort to replicate the racial research of Sōsuke Aizen and apply it to his so-called brothers.[29] Whilst Akira has openly stated that Hotaru is stronger than he is, Akira possesses far greater and refined control of his Hollowfication.[18] He demonstrates abilities approaching the level of Kenji, which includes instantaneous donning and removal of his Hollow mask.[11][18] Similarly to how a Fullbringer experiences a "quickening" of their powers whilst in Hueco Mundo,[34] Akira himself experienced a similar phenomenon during his sixteen-year stay in the Forest of Menos.[25] He noted that the duration that he could maintain his mask had increased greatly from "a couple of minutes" to a currently unspecified limit.[26]

File:Darker Than Black Hei mask.png

Akira donning his mask.

  • Hollow mask: Akira's Hollow mask is a simple white covering with a lightning bolt running through the right eye, with none of the scratches that cover Hotaru's and a slight red-lined opening around his mouth.[18] His eyes are obscured by a thin sheen. Whilst Hotaru dons his own mask as a means of safeguarding his identity, Akira only dons his as a last resort in battle or during training.[30][25] Unlike Hotaru, who dons his mask with a ripping motion, Akira has shown the requisite skill to summon and dismiss his mask through sheer will in a manner identical to his father.[11][18]
  • Power Augmentation: The original intent behind Hollowfication was to bring about an enhanced being whose power alone was greater than either a Shinigami or Hollow would be capable of reaching on their own.[35] With his mask donned, Akira experiences heightened ceilings of power, whilst expressing a unique duel-type spiritual signature not unlike that of an Arrancar.[36][19] This dual signature had the unforeseen effect of attracting Hollow to him during his training in the Forest, specifically from the Menos themselves.[30]
  • Enhanced Spiritual Energy: In 2003 Akira's reiatsu was potent enough for Ashido to sense it from some distance away.[18] By 2012 the surge in reiatsu experienced by Akira when he donned his Hollow mask made stealth next to impossible. This led to numerous lectures from Ashido who reprimanded him for drawing too much attention to them when he fought.[25]
  • Enhanced Durability: Akira's sense of pain is dulled by a noticeable margin when his mask is donned, something Akira shared with Ashido when explaining the nature of Hollowfication to him.[19] It was only after he removed it did he keenly feel pain from the wounds sustained jointly from his brief altercation with Hotaru and subsequent fall when he arrived in the Forest of Menos.[25]
  • Cero: an ability utilized mainly by Menos-class Hollows, Arrancar and the Visored, with virtually no difference between practitioners.[37] He developed this technique mimicking the Hollow in the Forest and subsequently created a game alongside Ashido that had the latter use his masks to ricochet Akira's Cero at specified targets.[26]
  • Gran Rey Cero: Gundinger taught Akira how to perform the Espada-exclusive version of Cero in August 2015.[24] This particular Cero spins like a razor and possesses the requisite power to disturb the very fabric of space when fired.[38]
  • Descorrer: a technique which usually opens a portal for an Arrancar, and historically others, to travel between the realms.[19] Akira was fit to use this technique to escape Hotaru during their initial battle.[11] With it, he opened a portal between Soul Society and Hueco Mundo.[18] It can likewise allow travel to the Human World from Hueco Mundo.[39]
  • Wan'nesu Enhancement: As shown by Kenji the advanced techniques of the Wan'nesu, specifically the Battle Aura, are subject to the empowering nature of Hollowfication.[40] Akira would later experiment in this field himself and discovered that his use of Armoury was likewise empowered whenever he donned his Hollow mask.[25]

Wan'nesu[]

The Wan'nesu, at least in Akira's native Shard, is known particularly for two battle-centric techniques: the Battle Aura (一戦霊気, Issenreiki) and Armoury (造兵廠, Zouheishou). The former, developed by Ikusa, draws upon the central essence of a person and amplifies it, similarly to a Clad-type Fullbring, which is subsequently worn.[41] The latter, developed by Rozeluxe Meitzen and perfected by Van Satonaka, which can be invoked on an item or a particularly vivid memory,[42] is sometimes referred to as a Raiment (衣服, Ifuku), and requires the user visualizing the concept and applying it to themselves in a manner similar to how one brings a Kidō spell into creation.[43]

Battle Aura[]

  • Battle Aura: Unknown, but extensively commented on. Akira learned the Wan'nesu from his Shard's Ashido, which included its advanced applications.[19] Whilst more than capable of performing the technique, Akira seemingly prefers Armoury.[25] His Battle Aura is comparable in strength to a typical Shikai release, and was initially mistaken as such by the Ashido of a differing Shard.[30]

Armoury[]

  • Armoury: Akira learned the Wan'nesu from his Shard's Ashido, which included its advanced applications.[19] He possessed markedly high aptitude for the Armoury skill, finding it more versatile than the Battle Aura favoured by his father.[25]
  • Raijin (雷神, God of Lightning): a form of Armoury developed by Akira during his stay in the Forest by drawing on the bond he shared with his father, specifically when the latter taught him Raikōhō, which he described as "flashy" and "destructive".[25] Akira noted that Raijin allowed him to replicate the well-known fighting-style employed throughout the years by his father, referred to by Van as "Kenji's go-to lightning-enhanced style". Additionally, this form of Armoury incorporates the principles of Shunkō to direct the resultant electrical energy, allowing for heightened physical and spiritual parameters that perfectly mimicked the abilities of Aoi Inazuma and her Shikai abilities.[44] Visually, Akira is observed to "wear" Raikōhō.
  • Lightning Manipulation: As a mimicry of his father's trademark style of combat, Raijin allows Akira to manipulate lightning and electricity in multiple different ways, exactly as Kenji once did, and limited only by his own imagination and ingenuity.[45] This includes solid lightning clones that can act in tandem with him for surprise attacks or as a diversionary action,[46][47] blasting foes with high-intensity shocks,[48] augmenting the height and speed of his movements,[49] blocking attacks with a shield of lightning,[50] and a means of directly augmenting his cutting power to casually cut through fortified defences with ease.[51]
